My two sons & I went goose hunting on Jan 6, 09 with Cajun Wildlife Adventures. Before making a reservation, Kevin Babineaux promised us a great hunting experience. As the sky began to get light at about 6:40am, the goose squawk was loud. The geese began to fill the skys by the thousands. Needless to say, we were excited. The only problem was that they would not decoy. They passed high over our heads and if they did turn toward the calling of our hunting guide, they circled and kept going. After sitting in a pit blind for 5 1/2 hours, we gave up. We did shoot one duck. Does anyone know if this is typical for goose hunting? It cost us $975.00 for the experience. If this is normal, then this will be the last guided hunt for me. If someone knows of a good goose hunting guide that gives results, please advise.

Sorry to hear that! Guess that is hunting. I have heard that Kevin Babineaux is good, and I remember reading another forum where someone had a bad experience with him also. 975 bucks? You must have had a lot of hunters. Seems kinda high for a goose hunt. I hunted the rice fields near Kaplan with a company called Cajun Way outfitters. They are based out of Jennings, and the guides name was Cleveland. We got our limit, and boy could this coonass call. Better luck next time.
